The didgeridoo is the most traditional music instrument of the North Australian Aboriginal people. Traditionally, it is made from a local eucalyptus trunk hollowed out by termite and used as a predominantly rhythmic accompanying instrument for chants and dances. The acoustical and rhythmical variety occur due to the combinations of mouth movements, breathing techniques and vocal effects based on a key tone - only slightly varied in the tone pitch - and overblown tones.
